INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM <br />OFFICE OF MANAGEMENT AND BUDGET <br />TO: Members of the Board of County Commissioners <br />DATE: July 6, 2016 <br />SUBJECT: Request for Ratification <br />Florida Department of Law Enforcement <br />FY 2016/2017 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice <br />Assistance Grant (JAG) Program <br />FROM: Michael Smykowski >\k� <br />Director, Management & Budget <br />DESCRIPTIONS AND CONDITIONS <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br />2 Re� <br />On July 01, 2016 Indian River County received notification by the Florida Department of Law <br />Enforcement (FDLE), Office of Criminal Justice Grants, that $61,136 was allocated in grant <br />funds for Fiscal Year 2016/2017 to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control <br />crime and to improve the criminal justice system. This amount is, an increase from the current <br />fiscal year in which Indian River County received $54,202 in federal funds. The letter also <br />recommends that the Board of County Commissioners serve as the coordinating unit of <br />government in development of applications for these funds. For the current fiscal year <br />(2015/2016), Indian River County was allocated $54,202 in federal grant funds, with no match <br />requirement. Likewise, the fiscal year 2016/2017 grant amount of $61,136 will not carry a <br />match requirement. <br />The Certificate of Participation was to be returned to FDLE by July 11, 2016. Because the next <br />Board of County Commissioners meeting was not scheduled until July 12, 2016, Bob Solari, <br />Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners executed the Certificate of Participation on <br />behalf of the Board. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends that the Board of County Commissioners ratify the Chairman's action in <br />executing the Certificate of Participation. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />Announcement letter from Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement dated June 22, 2016 <br />Certificate of Participation <br />170 <br />
