DEPARTMENTAL SERVICE (25/50 Points max) <br />Total years of service completed; credit is 1 point per full year. Total years in rank completed; credit <br />is 1 point per full year. For promotion from Firefighter to Driver/Engineer, only total years of <br />service points will be credited. For promotion from Driver/Engineer to Lieutenant, additional years <br />in rank points will be credited for time in Driver/Engineer rank. For promotion from Lieutenant to <br />Captain, additional years in rank points will be credited for time served as a Lieutenant. Maximum <br />score for Service is 25 points for Driver/Engineer promotional testing and 50 points for Officer <br />promotional testing. <br />OTHER FACTORS TO BE CONSIDERED BY THE PROMOTION BOARD — NO POINT <br />VALUES GIVEN: <br />COLLEGE DEGREES <br />BS OR BA department related <br />AS OR AA department related <br />BS OR BA in non -department related <br />AS OR AA in non -department related <br />CERTIFICATIONS <br />An approved and accredited department related certification requires an examination or review to <br />obtain. <br />Certifications that will automatically be approved will be listed by the Training Division. Any <br />additional certifications may be approved or rejected by the educational committee in the future, and <br />added or subtracted from the list as necessary. <br />EDUCATIONAL COURSES <br />Any documented courses given by colleges, Fire/EMS or public safety agencies, or private <br />companies that are job related and approved by the promotional board. <br />All employees shall have a folder created in their training file to maintain the documentation of each <br />employee's education. The Training Division shall review all education courses/certifications to be <br />used for consideration before the promotional board meets. <br />It is the responsibility of each employee to present current educational documents for their resume. <br />If the documentation is not there, it shall not be considered. <br />18 <br />P96 <br />
