Board of County Commissioners <br />Budget Workshop - Final July 12, 2017 <br />001-110 UNITED AGAINST POVERTY (fka HARVEST FOOD) <br />001-110 211 PALM BEACH/TREASURE COAST <br />001-110 FOR THE LOVE OF PAWS <br />001-206 VETERANS COUNCIL OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, INC. <br />17-0730 <br />Attachments: Non Profit Organizations <br />Administrator Brown's proposed recommendations for Non -Profit <br />Organizations: <br />• Mental Health Association - $22,962, an increase of $462, or 2.1% <br />• United Against Poverty (fka Harvest Food) - $10,205, an increase of $205, or <br />2.1% <br />• 211 Palm Beach - $10,205, an increase of $205, or 2.1% <br />• Keep Indian River Beautiful (K.I.R.B.) - $50,539, an increase of $10,000, or <br />24.7% <br />• Veteran's Council - $84,160, an increase of $1,850, or 2.2% <br />The Chairman opened the floor for public comments. <br />Colonel Sam Kouns, President of the Veteran's Council of Indian River County, <br />provided information about the success of the Medical Transportation Program and <br />stated that the West Palm Beach Military Hospital had provided them with a <br />15 -passenger bus with wheelchair access that provided for the transportation of <br />2,965 local veterans to their medical appointments. He requested a modest increase <br />in funding to allow for cleaning expenses for the busses and to hire an additional <br />bus driver. <br />Annabelle Robertson, Executive Director, United Against Poverty, expressed <br />appreciation to the Board for their support, and provided information on the 223 <br />participants in the Workforce Development Programs, which reflected a $3.2 <br />million annualized wage impact in the community.
