• <br />• <br />Library of Florida, and other similar organizations responsible for the <br />development of standards. Unless otherwise excepted, such standards are <br />used as guidelines for the library system. <br />General Information <br />The Indian River County Library System includes the Main Library, located <br />in downtown Vero Beach; the Brackett Library, a joint -use facility with <br />Indian River State College, located on the Mueller Center campus in Vero <br />Beach; the North Indian River County Library, located in Sebastian; the <br />Law Library, located in the Main Library, and the Gifford Youth Activities <br />Center Library, located in the Gifford community. The system employs 41.5 <br />staff (FTE). The FY 2014/2015 proposed budget for the library system is <br />$3,327,264.00. The facilities total 106,347 square feet. The Main Library is <br />49,389 square feet; the Brackett Library is 30,000 square feet; the North <br />County Library is 25,445 square feet, and the Gifford Library is 1,513 <br />square feet. <br />The System offers access to 543,730 items, including audio visual and <br />electronic materials. There is also an extensive Florida history, genealogy, <br />and Civil War collection which include online databases, historic maps, and <br />microforms. <br />The library system has been automated since 1991, and upgraded <br />periodically and as recently as 2008. Polaris is the automation vendor. All <br />library applications are automated. Upgrades are done as available. <br />The Friends of the Library organizations offer support for all the system <br />libraries. Volunteers provided 27,038 hours of service to the System in FY <br />2013/2014. <br />Library Hours of Operation: <br />Main Library <br />Mondays & Thursdays 10:00 - 8:00 <br />Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Fridays 10:00 - 5:00 <br />Saturdays 10:00 - 4:00 <br />Sundays 1:00 - 5:00 <br />4 <br />112 <br />
