BROOKS, MANAGER etY( <br />SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL DISTRICT <br />SUBJECT: MOSQUITO CONTROL/WASTE TIRE ABATEMENT GRANT <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Florida Department of Environmental Regulation is awarding <br />grants to the counties that have mosquito control programs for <br />the purpose of controlling mosquitos generated by waste tire site <br />or other debris sites. The Mosquito Control Department has <br />requested that the Board of County Commissioners apply for this <br />grant which may be awarded to the County in the amount of $15,000 <br />or more. The County may transfer the grant funds to the mosquito <br />control program for use as outlined in page 2 of the attached <br />application form. <br />CONCLUSION <br />The proposed grant funds will be of benefit in the control and <br />elimination of mosquito problems related to waste tire sites. An <br />application for the grant must be submitted to the DER by October <br />1, 1992. SWDD staff will serve as the primary coordinator for <br />the application of the grant and the subsequent paperwork related <br />to obtaining the grant funds. SWDD staff requests that the Board <br />of County Commissioners approve the application for grant funds <br />and authorize the Chairperson to execute the application form. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously (4-0, <br />Chairman Eggert being absent) approved the <br />application for grant funds, as recommended by <br />staff. <br />COPY OF GRANT APPLICATION <br />IS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />Oki <br />BOOK N�f- <br />SEP <br />
