CONTRACT WITH DEAF SERVICE CENTER OF THE TREASURE COAST INC. <br />The Board reviewed memo from Assistant to County Administrator <br />Randy Dowling dated September 16, 1992: <br />TO: Board of County Commissioners DATE. September 16, 1992 FILE. <br />THROUGH: James E. Chandler <br />County Administrator <br />SUBJECT: Contract With Deaf Service <br />Center of the Treasure <br />Coast, Inc. <br />Rand <br />FROM. y Dowling Nl?>REFERENCES: <br />Asst. to County Administrator <br />During the July 22, 1992 budget workshop, the Deaf Service Center of the <br />Treasure Coast, Inc. requested funding for their operation from the Board. <br />The Board tentatively agreed to make $5,000 available to this organization on the <br />condition that the organization provide the Board with qualified sign language <br />interpreters for public meetings upon request to comply with the Americans With <br />Disabilities Act (ADA). <br />Staff recommends the Board approve the attached contract. <br />Vice Chairman Bowman requested.a clarification in the wording <br />of Exhibit "A", Item 5, to read, "From the interpreter's point of <br />origin to the point of service, there will be a charge of $.23 a <br />mile except for the first and last 20 miles of the round trip." <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously (4-0, <br />Chairman Eggert being absent) approved the contract <br />with the Deaf Service Center as modified, as <br />recommended by staff. <br />SAID CONTRACT <br />IS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />REQUEST TO ESTABLISH A NEIGHBORHOOD AWARENESS MERIT RECOGNITION <br />AWARD AND NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM <br />Community Development Director Bob Keating made the following <br />presentation: <br />Sri <br />J <br />
