/14 <br />COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR MATTERS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: The Honorable Board of County Commissioners <br />THRU Jason Brown <br />County Administrator <br />FROM: Suzanne BoyII " <br />Human Resources Director <br />DATE: September 6, 2017 <br />SUBJECT: Collective Bargaining Agreement between Indian River County and Teamsters, <br />Local Union No. 769 — FY2017/18 General Wage Increase <br />The collective bargaining agreement between Indian River County and the Teamsters, Local <br />Union No. 769 provides for a wage reopener to negotiate a general wage adjustment for the <br />second and third year of the agreement (FY2017/18 and FY2018/19). The parties met on several <br />occasions to negotiate a wage adjustment for FY2017/18. Tentative agreement was reached on <br />August 16, 2017 to provide a 2.5% general wage increase effective the first full pay period in <br />October. This wage adjustment would increase the minimum and maximum of the pay plan for <br />each position represented by the Teamsters. The proposed agreement was submitted to the <br />Teamsters membership and ratified by the Union on September 5, 2017. The wage 2.5% wage <br />increase is presented to the Board of County Commissioners for approval. <br />FUNDING: <br />Funds are budgeted and available in the FY2017/18 budget to provide for the recommended <br />wage increase. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff respectfully recommends approval of a 2.5% general wage increase for employees <br />represented by the Teamsters, Local Union No. 769 effective the first full pay period in October <br />2017 and requests the Board authorize its Chairman to sign the amendment to Article 33 - Wages <br />of the collective bargaining agreement providing for the general wage increase. <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />Proposed Amendment to Article 33 - Wages of the Agreement between Indian River County and <br />the Teamsters, Local Union No. 769 and Exhibit A <br />P300 <br />
