SJRWMD FY 2017-2018 Final Budget <br /> B. Goals, Objectives, and Priorities <br /> Chapter 373, F.S., authorizes the District to direct a wide range of initiatives, programs, <br /> and actions. These responsibilities are grouped under four core mission areas by <br /> statute: water supply, water quality, flood protection and floodplain management, and <br /> natural systems. <br /> The District has developed and the Governing Board has approved the FY 2017-21 <br /> Strategic Plan, which is available online at www.sjrwmd.com/StrategicPlan.pdf. This <br /> Strategic Plan reflects the District's commitment to meeting the four core mission areas <br /> or areas of responsibilities (AORs) outlined below. <br /> Core Mission <br /> Area/AOR Strategic Plan Goal, Objectives, and Priorities <br /> Water Supply • Plan and implement Water Supply Plans <br /> o Write and implement Regional Water Supply Plans <br /> • Develop and implement Minimum Flows and Minimum Levels(MFLs) <br /> o Set MFLs for springs and water bodies within the District <br /> • Implement Water Conservation Strategies <br /> o Reduce per capita water use throughout the District <br /> o Review and implement a strategy to support dispersed storage <br /> programs <br /> Water Quality • Provide restoration efforts to springs/aquifer <br /> o Continue Springs Protection Initiative <br /> o Springshed enhancement/management <br /> o Provide monitoring within springs <br /> • Provide restoration efforts to coastal bodies <br /> o Rehabilitate the Indian River Lagoon <br /> o Enhance the Northern Coastal Basins <br /> • Provide restoration efforts to the St. Johns River <br /> o Rehabilitate the St. Johns River <br /> o Rehabilitate Lake Apopka <br /> o Rehabilitate Ocklawaha River Basin <br /> o Provide monitoring and diagnostic assessments <br /> Flood • Maintain federal flood control systems <br /> Protection o Operate and maintain the federal flood control project in compliance <br /> and within USACE guidelines <br /> Floodplain o Maintain and support flood control water level data sites <br /> Management • Maintain non-federal flood control systems <br /> o Operate and maintain nonfederal flood protection projects in <br /> compliance with internal O&M guidance <br /> o Maintain and support flood control water level data sites <br /> Natural • Support Land Management <br /> Systems o Develop GIS technology and spatially linked abilities <br /> o Survey, identify and prescribe treatment for invasive plant <br /> infestation <br /> o Lake Apopka habitat and access improvements <br /> o Conduct wetland community mapping <br /> o Conduct land management activities <br /> o Provide additional access to District <br /> Page 13 <br /> 5'.A. 161 <br />
