SJRWMD FY 2017-2018 Final Budget <br />F. Adopted Millage Rate <br />The property tax rate for FY 2017-18 is 0.2724 — 27.24 cents for every $1,000 of <br />assessed property value. The millage rate is approximately 5.6 percent less than the FY <br />2016-17 millage rate. <br />Under the 0.2724 millage rate, the owner of a $200,000 house with a $50,000 <br />homestead exemption will be assessed $40.86 in property taxes, or a reduction of $2.42 <br />over the FY 2016-17 assessment. Figure 6 provides additional examples of the amount <br />of ad valorem tax due to the District based on different property values. <br />The FY 2017-18 adopted <br />millage rate is the same as the <br />estimated rolled -back rate of <br />0.2724 and it represents less <br />than half of the estimated <br />majority vote maximum <br />millage rate of 0.6180 in FY <br />2017-18. It is worth noting <br />that in order to reduce the <br />burden of taxpayers, the <br />District has adopted the rolled - <br />back millage rate since FY <br />2012-13.
