Board of County Commissioners <br />Meeting Minutes - Final November 7, 2017 <br />5.B. 17-1125 Presentation of Proclamation Designating the Day of November 11, 2017, as <br />Veterans Day <br />Recommended Action: Read and Presented <br />Attachments: Proclamation <br />Chairman Flescher read and presented the Proclamation to Sgt. Curtis Paulisin, 1st <br />Vice President, Veterans Council of Indian River County, along with Sgt. Gary <br />James. <br />Sgt. Paulisin provided a brief update on the success of the 3rd Annual Picnic, and <br />with the assistance of Sgt. Gary James, gave details regarding the upcoming <br />Veteran's Day festivities. <br />Read and Presented <br />5.C. 17-1155 Presentation of Proclamation Designating the Month of November, 2017, as <br />National Adoption Awareness Month <br />Recommended Action: Read and Presented <br />Attachments: Proclamation <br />Commissioner Zorc read and presented the Proclamation to Joshua Kolkana, <br />Director of Foster Care, Place of Hope; Vernee Mason, Dependency Program <br />Director; and Kristin Tipton from Devereux CBC. <br />Vernee Mason provided adoption statistics for the Treasure Coast, and gave details <br />about their upcoming National Adoption Day Event. <br />Joshua Kolkana spoke about the importance of foster care, and provided <br />information on Place of Hope, which serves the community by helping children <br />find "forever homes". <br />Commissioner Zorc explained his involvement with foster care and theadoption <br />process, and invited interested parties to attend a local event being held at the <br />Calvary Chapel, 941 18th Street, Vero Beach, Florida. <br />Read and Presented <br />5.D. 17-1152 Presentation of Proclamation Celebrating Piper Aircraft Corporation's 80th <br />Anniversary <br />Indian River County Florida Page 2 <br />
