RIGHT TO SUSPEND OR DISCONTINUE SERVICE TO A CUSTOMER (Continued) <br />(3) Service shall be restored when cause for discontinuance has been satisfactorily <br />adjusted. <br />(4) When service has been discontinued for proper cause, the utility may charge a <br />reasonable fee to defray cost of restoring service provided such charge is set out in its approved <br />tariff on file with the Commission. <br />(5) In case of refusal to establish service, or whenever service is discontinued, the <br />utility shall notify the applicant or Customer in writing of the reason for such refusal or <br />discontinuance. <br />(6) If the Company has reasonable evidence that there is or may be a danger <br />from the Customer or any occupant and/or invitee of the Customer's Premises to Company <br />personnel or agents who might be called to said Premises in the course of their duties with <br />the Company, including but not limited to any direct or implied threats against the Company <br />or its personnel or agents from said Customer or occupant and/or invitee. <br />(7) The following shall not constitute sufficient cause for refusal or discontinuance of <br />service to an applicant or Customer. <br />(a) Delinquency in payment for service by a previous occupant of the <br />premises unless the current applicant or Customer occupied the premises at the time the <br />delinquency occurred and the previous Customer continues to occupy the premises and <br />such previous Customer will receive benefit from such service. <br />(b) Failure to pay for appliances purchased from the utility. <br />(c) Failure to pay for a different type of utility service, such as electricity or <br />water. <br />(d) Failure to pay for a different class of service. <br />(e) Failure to pay the bill of another Customer as guarantor thereof. <br />(f) Failure to pay a dishonored check service charge imposed by the utility. <br />(8) No utility shall discontinue service to any noncommercial Customer between <br />12:00 noon on a Friday and 8:00 a.m. the following Monday or between 12:00 noon on the day <br />preceding a holiday and 8:00 a.m. the next working day unless such discontinuance is at the <br />request of the Customer or is necessary in the interest of safety. Holiday as used in this <br />subsection shall mean New Years Day, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, <br />and Christmas Day. <br />(9) Each utility shall submit, as a tariff item, a procedure for discontinuance of <br />service when that service is medically essential. <br />Issued by: Carolyn Bermudez Effective: <br />Vice President, Florida City Gas <br />
