UW -92 -18 -DS <br />WORK AUTHORIZATION .N0. 6 <br />BACKGROUND <br />On August 6, 1991, the Board of -'County Commissioners approved the <br />award of the labor contract bid to -Driveways, Inc. (Bid No. 91-113). <br />(See attached minutes.) The Department of Utility Services proposes <br />to use this labor contract to replace the distribution system as <br />stated. <br />On July 7, 1992, the Indian River County Board of County <br />Commissioners approved three surveying proposals from Masteller, <br />Molar and Reed to obtain data for the following projects: <br />Project No. 1'- Pineview Park Subdivision and Rivenbark-'Subdivision <br />Project No. 2 - Cooks Subdivision, -Glen Acres, and Ixora Park <br />Subdivision <br />Project No.•3 - Vero Mall vicinity, Ridgewood Subdivision, South <br />Side Park Subdivision vicinity, and Casa Rio <br />Subdivision vicinity <br />Surveying has been completed, and Project No. 2 is designed for <br />construction. Project No. 2 is comprised of the replacement of <br />existing 2 -inch galvanized water main with approximately 1,318 <br />_ linear feet of 6 -inch PVC water main and 4,660 linear feet of 2 -inch <br />PVC water main. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The cost of the labor to construct the 6 -inch and 2 -inch PVC water <br />mains under the labor contract is $47,161.84 (see attached Work <br />Authorization No. 6 with Driveways, Inc.). The pipe, valves, and <br />fittings will be supplied by the County at a cost of $15,258.62. <br />In-house engineering, inspection, and administration costs are <br />estimated to be $5,800.00. <br />The construction of these replacement water lines is a part of a <br />continuing effort by the Department to replace galvanized water <br />lines in Indian River County. Funding for this project will be from <br />renewal and replacement funds. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The staff of the Department of Utility Services recommends that the <br />Board of County Commissioners approve Work Authorization No. 6 to <br />construct Project No. 2 with Driveways, Inc., for the amount of <br />$47,161.8.4 to replace an estimated total of 5,978 linear feet of <br />water main and authorize expenditure of $21,058.62 for materials and <br />in-house support, for a total project cost of $68,220.46. <br />20 <br />
