"SONNY" DEAN, DIRECT <br />DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERAs <br />SUBJECT: COUNTY OWNED BUILDING - 4716 33RD AVENUE <br />REQUEST TO DEMOLISH <br />BACKGROUND: <br />BOOK 88 F -A, 276 <br />Indian River County owns Lot 9, Block 9, Smith Plaza Subdivision at <br />4716 33rd Avenue. This is the location of the old Gifford Jaycee <br />Building. It has not be maintained in several years and the <br />structure is not safe for inhabitation. <br />ANALYSIS: <br />On request of this writer, the County Building Department made an <br />inspection of the building and identified the structure to be <br />dangerous and unsafe. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />Based on the above, staff feels the structure represents a liability <br />to the County and recommends action to demolish and dispose of the <br />building. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Adams, the Board unanimously authorized <br />demolition and disposal of the building at 4716 33rd <br />Avenue, as recommended by staff. <br />H.
