BOOK 88F 3 8 <br />Director Komarinetz closed by suggesting that everyone visit <br />the golf course, and that one of his goals is the Golf Course <br />Digest award for best course built in 1992. <br />GENERAL SERVICES <br />General Services Director Sonny Dean then gave a presentation <br />of his department. The Department of General Services includes the <br />following divisions: <br />Directors' Offices - Two employees maintain all property <br />leases and telecommunications systems, except 911. <br />Central Services - Four employees are responsible for mail, <br />photocopying, facsimile transmission and reception, and telephone <br />switchboard operation. <br />Buildina and Grounds - Twenty-five employees maintain all <br />County facilities, which includes over 30 buildings and 400,000 <br />square feet, and over 15 acres of grass and landscaping at 9 <br />locations. <br />Purchasing - Four employees processed 3,875 purchase orders, <br />117 bid items and $40,000 in inventory during the 1991-92 fiscal <br />year. <br />Main and North County Libraries - A total of 46 employees <br />handle approximately 51,500 in circulation and 37,500 patrons per <br />month. <br />Law Library - The law library has just one employee, who <br />handled 3,948 attorney visits, 1,743 attorney telephone calls, <br />3,286 public visits, and 1,889 public telephone calls during the <br />1991-92 fiscal year. <br />Probation - Six employees carry an average of 550 cases per <br />month and collected $91,113.00 during fiscal 1991-92. <br />Veterans Services - Four employees average about 700 calls per <br />month. <br />Agriculture Extension Services - Four employees average 150 <br />office visits, 500 telephone calls and 50 field trips per month. <br />The Master Gardener Program is administered by this division. <br />Soil and Water Conservation District - Two employees provide <br />advice to the public and perform soil and water analysis. <br />Housing and Rental Assistance - Six employees assist residents <br />in finding subsidized housing. Most of the funding for this <br />program comes from the Federal government. <br />6 <br />
