THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION. <br />It was voted on and carried unanimously. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 93- 1", <br />A RESOLUTION OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, <br />CALLING FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION TO DETERMINE WHETHER <br />THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS SHALL HAVE THE <br />POWER AUTHORIZED BY SECTION 3, ARTICLE VII OF THE <br />FLORIDA CONSTITUTION TO GRANT AD VALOREM TAX <br />EXEMPTIONS TO NEW BUSINESSES AND EXPANSIONS OF <br />EXISTING BUSINESSES. <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the authority of Section 3, Article VII of the <br />Florida Constitution the Florida Legislature has adopted Section 196.1995, <br />Florida Statutes, which authorizes the Board of County Commissioners of <br />Indian River County to call a referendum within its total jurisdiction to <br />determine whether its respective jurisdiction may grant economic development <br />ad valorem tax exemptions; and <br />WHEREAS, the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners has <br />determined that --having the power to grant such exemptions would be in the <br />public interest by fostering economic development which would otherwise not <br />occur; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that: <br />1. A special election shall be held on April 13, 1993, within the entire <br />incorporated and unincorporated areas of Indian River County to be held <br />pursuant to Section 101.6102, Florida Statutes, at which the following <br />question will be presented to the qualified voters: <br />SHALL THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER <br />COUNTY BE AUTHORIZED, PURSUANT TO S. 3, ART. VII OF THE <br />STATE. CONSTITUTION, TO GRANS PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTIONS TO <br />NEW BUSINESSES AND EXPANSIONS OF EXISTING BUSINESSES? <br />YES -'Por Authority to Grant Exemptions <br />NO = Against Authority to Grant Exemptions <br />2.
