® r � <br />TRAFFIC SIGNALIZATION DESIGN AT US1/37TH STREET INTERSECTION <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated January 12, <br />1993: <br />TO: James E. Chandler, <br />County Administrator <br />FROM: James W. Davis, P.E., <br />Public Works Director <br />SUBJECT: Traffic Signalization Design at US1/ <br />37th Street Intersection <br />DATE: January 12, 1993 FILE: 37stdez.agn <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />To add an additional westbound left turn lane at the Barber <br />Avenue (37th St)/US1 intersection, expansion and possible <br />redesign of the existing traffic signalization is required. The <br />County's Consulting engineers-K.F. Lenz Company, has submitted a <br />proposal to design the needed improvements for a design fee of <br />$3,500. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />AT the present. time, the Traffic Engineer position is vacant. <br />The alternatives are as follows: _ <br />Alternative #1 <br />Approve the attached proposal/work order for design services <br />at a not -to -exceed fee of $3,500. <br />Alternative #2 <br />Deny approval of the proposal and design the project with <br />County staff. The project will be delayed approximately <br />three months until a Traffic Engineer can begin employment <br />and concentrate on the project. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />Staff recommends approval of Alternative #1 whereby H.F. Lenz <br />Company be retained to design the signalization improvements for <br />a design fee of $3,500. Funding to be from Account # <br />111-214-541-066.31. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Adams, the Board unanimously approved <br />proposal/work order for design services from H.
