WISEMEN, P.E <br />AND STAFFED ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER <br />BY: DEPARTMENT OF UTILITY SERVICES <br />SUBJECT: RECLAIMED WATER ORDINANCE <br />PROPOSED INDIAN RIVER COUNTY ORDINANCE, CHAPTER 202 <br />BACKGROUND <br />On August 29, 1991, the Department of Environmental Regulation <br />issued a permit for construction of a reclaimed water pipe from Sea <br />Oaks WWTF to the town of Orchid and Windsor Polo development. The <br />reclaimed water pipe was necessitated by the proposed expansion of <br />Sea Oaks WWTF for effluent disposal. The requirement of said permit <br />is that the County establish procedures for user controls and <br />construction practices in the development of a reclaimed water <br />ordinance to regulate a possible cross connection to a potable <br />water main, Rule 17-610, F.A.C. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The attached proposed ordinance addresses customer classifications, <br />prohibited uses of reclaimed water, applications for connection to <br />the reclaimed water system, system identification, cross -connection <br />control practices, with minimum separation to other pipes, as <br />required by Rule 17-610, F.A.C. <br />RECOM 1ENDATION <br />The Department of Utility Services recommends that the Board of <br />County Commissioners consent to the department's advertising to hold <br />a public hearing on Marc# 9, 1993. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Adams, the Board unanimously scheduled <br />a public hearing on March 9, 1993 to consider a <br />Reclaimed Water ordinance, Chapter 202. <br />L. Jim Granse Appointed to Land Acquisition Advisory Committee <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Adams, the Board unanimously appointed <br />Jim Granse to the Land Acquisition Advisory <br />Committee. <br />16 <br />
