Chairman Bird asked if the Board --had any objection to his <br />representing the Commission and conveying this information to the <br />FDOT on his upcoming trip to Tallahassee. <br />The Board indicated their full agreement to the Pilot Club's <br />request. <br />FIREARMS RANGE COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS TO NEW FIREARMS RANGE <br />COMMITTEE <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 2/22/93: <br />TO: BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />FROM: Richard N. Bird, Chairman <br />BE: Firearms Range Corimitt:ee <br />DATE: February 22, 1993 <br />In January, 1993, the Firearms Range Committee was abolished with <br />the intent that it would be restructured when the new Sheriff <br />took office. J respectfully request that the Board of County <br />Commissioners approve the following members of the new Firearms <br />Range Committee: <br />Richard N. Bird <br />Ned Potter _. <br />John Amos <br />Capt. James Horan (Lt. Bud Spencer, Alternate) <br />Additional members may be added in the near future, as needed. <br />I feel it is important that we obtain public input from shooting <br />enthusiasts in the area to find out exactly what their range <br />needs are. I would like to set a public hearing for the latter <br />part of -March if this meets with your approval. <br />Chairman Bird advised that after 6 years on this committee, we <br />still are getting mixed signals from shooting enthusiasts in the <br />area and he would like to hold a public hearing in the latter part <br />of March to receive public input on the matter of building a public <br />shooting range. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Macht, the Board unanimously appointed <br />the persons listed above to the new Firearms Range <br />Committee and approved the scheduling of a public <br />hearing in the future. <br />45 <br />9tltlK 8V.
