PUBLIC HEARING - ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR AN ALTERNATE FOR ES <br />OFFICIO MEMBERS OF COMMISSIONS AND BOARDS (CONTINUATION OF PUBLIC <br />HEARING OF MAY 4, 1993) <br />Assistant County Attorney Terry O'Brien announced that the <br />ordinance being presented today is an amended version of the, <br />ordinance presented at last week's public hearing. The purpose of <br />the ordinance is to give municipalities and other agencies the <br />ability to send an alternate to meetings when the designated <br />representatives are unable to attend. The alternates would have <br />the same voting power as the designated representatives. <br />The Chairman opened the public hearing and asked if anyone <br />wished to be heard in this matter. There being none, he closed the <br />public hearing. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Tippin, the Board unanimously approved <br />Ordinance 93-16, providing for an alternate for ex <br />officio members of commissions and boards. <br />ORDINANCE 93-16 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br />FLORIDA PROVIDING FOR AN ALTERNATE FOR <br />EX OFFICIO MEMBERS OF COMMISSIONS AND <br />BOARDS. <br />WHEREAS, a number of commissions and boards have ex officio <br />members; and <br />WHEREAS, it is important that these commissions and boards <br />have the benefit of the views of the organization represented by the <br />ex officio member, and <br />WHEREAS, the named ex officio member may from time to time be <br />absent and representation by an alternate would fill the void created <br />by the absence, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, <br />that: <br />SECTION 1. NEW SECTION. - <br />A new section 103.04.1 is added to Chapter 103 of the Indian <br />River County Code as follows: <br />Section 103.04.'1 Ex Officio Members of Commissions and Boards. <br />Whenever a commission or board has an ex officio member, the <br />named representative when absent may be represented by another <br />35 <br />MAY <br />BOOK 89 f'AuF.500 <br />11 1993 <br />
