Chandler <br />County Administrator <br />FY 1993-94 Anti -Drug Abuse <br />SUBJMT.- Grant Funding <br />FROM: Randy Dowling M <br />Ass't. to County Administrat,$EFERENCES: <br />BACKGROUND <br />For the previous three fiscal years.- Indian River County has been allocated <br />grant funds from the Florida Department of Community Affairs (FDCA) to fund <br />local anti-drug abuse programs. The Board has funded the same four programs <br />all three years. <br />1) Indian River County Jail Substance Abuse Counseling Program and <br />Aftercare Program - Administered by New Horizons of the Treasure Coast. <br />Inc. <br />2) First Start Program - Administered by the Indian River County School <br />Board. <br />3) Just Say No Program - Administered. by the Just Say No Council of Indian <br />River County, Inc. <br />4) Substance Abuse Advisory Council Administrative Expenses *- Administered <br />by the Substance Abuse Council of Indian River County. <br />The County Administrator's Office received a letter dated March 15, 1993 from <br />FDCA stating that Indian River County has been allocated $138,816 in federal <br />grant funds for FY 1993-94, the same amount as last year, to fund local <br />anti-drug tabuse programs. The county will provide the 25% matching <br />requiremen which will bring the total amount available to $185,088. The letter <br />also requested the Board to serve as the coordinating unit of government in <br />applying for the funds. The Board. during Its April 6, 1993 regular meeting, <br />accepted the Invitation to serve as the coordinating unit of government and <br />named Randy Dowling, Assistant to the County Administrator, as the contact <br />person. <br />OV] <br />
