JUN -11993 <br />BOOK 89 pnu 737 <br />Commissioner Eggert reported that she has received a number of <br />comments on the Just Say No Program, and wished to know how these <br />figures compare to last.year's grant figures. <br />OMB Director Joe Baird advised that last year the total amount <br />was $9,932 of which $7,449 was the grant and $2,483 was the <br />County's match. <br />Cheryl Ann Burke, executive director of the Substance Abuse <br />Advisory Council and representative from each of the five programs, <br />explained that the increase is due to the increase in prevention <br />work. The Just Say No board has increased the number of special <br />events which include the After Prom Party,. the Dale Dawkins Family <br />Day Picnic, a Beach Bash Surf Contest, a Summer Celebration, a <br />Tailgate Party, a Christmas Bash at the middle schools and at the <br />junior high school, and a Christmas Gala at the high school. <br />Commissioner Macht noted that there is a marked change from <br />treatment to prevention measures. <br />commissioner Eggert was glad to hear that Mrs. Burke feels <br />they are getting a good response to the prevention measures.
