White <br />Administrative Aide <br />RE: LDR letters <br />DATE: August 20, 1993 <br />BOOK 90 PACE 262 <br />This office has received many letters regarding the proposed land <br />development regulation amendments. Some of the letters made <br />reference to specific projects where the Board will sit as a <br />judge, therefore, you will not be able to read them:until those <br />projects come, before you in public hearings. The letters have <br />been separated into two folders. The letters dealing only with <br />the LDR amendments are available for your review. The letters <br />that reference specific projects that you cannot read at this <br />time will be in a separate folder. <br />I will be at a seminar on August 23, but Jan Masi will have the <br />letters with her at the meeting. <br />The total number of letters FOR the LDR amendments: 145 <br />The total number of letters AGAINST the LDR amendments: 7 <br />Chairman Bird acknowledged the hundreds of letters on this <br />issue that have been received in the past few weeks, and asked <br />County Attorney Charles Vitunac to elaborate on the recent court <br />ruling which prohibits the County Commissioners from reading <br />letters pertaining to special exception approvals prior to a public <br />hearing. <br />Attorney Vitunac explained that a recent court ruling says <br />that when the Board of County Commissioners acts like -a -judge, no <br />one can lobby them about something that will come before them. <br />2 <br />
