UW -93 -24 -DS <br />BACKGROUND <br />A petition has been received for a water main extension for Green <br />Acres Estates to supply potable water to its residents. We are now <br />coming to the Board of County Commissioners to seek approval to <br />begin design of the above-mentioned project. (See attached petition <br />and plat map.) <br />ANALYSIS <br />The subdivision contains 20 lots with 10 existing homes and 10 <br />vacant lots. Seven owners of the existing homes and one vacant lot <br />owner have signed the attached petition. This represents 70% of the <br />homeowners, plus an owner of one vacant lot. These homeowners <br />describe their water as below drinking water quality. The lots in <br />this project are typically one-half acre, or slightly more. The <br />attached map displays the area to benefit from the assessment <br />project. This project is to be paid through the assessment of <br />property owners along the proposed water line route. In the <br />interim, financing will be through the use of impact fee funds. <br />Design services will be provided by the. Department of Utility <br />Services. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The staff of the Department of Utility Services recommends approval <br />of the above -listed project in order that they may proceed with the <br />design engineering work in preparation for the special assessment <br />project. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Adams, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Macht, the Board unanimously approved <br />water service to Green Acres Estates in order that <br />staff may proceed with the design engineering work <br />in preparation for the special assessment project. <br />APPROVAL OF OUT -OF -COUNTY TRAVEL - COMMISSIONER ADAMS <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Macht, the Board unanimously approved <br />out -of -county travel for Commissioner Adams to <br />attend a workshop of the St. Johns River Water <br />Management District in Winter Park on Friday, <br />September 17, 1993. <br />40 <br />
