GROVE HARVEST <br />BACKGROUND <br />BOOK 91 FAr,F <br />The Solid Waste Disposal District (S.W.D.D.) has approximately 65 <br />acres of citrus grove consisting of white grapefruit, temple <br />oranges, and naval oranges. The grove is located adjacent to the <br />Indian River County landfill. <br />ANALYSIS <br />In previous years, an attempt to solicit bidders for the harvest of <br />the S.W.D.D. citrus crop resulted in no bids. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The staff of the Department of Utility Services and S.W.D.D. <br />recommend that the Board of County Commissioners authorize the Solid <br />Waste Disposal District to negotiate the sale of the 1993-1994 <br />citrus crop. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Adams, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Eggert, the Board unanimously <br />authorized the Solid Waste Disposal District to <br />negotiate the sale of the 1993-94 citrus crop. <br />TALLAHASSEE LEGISLATIVE CONFERENCE <br />Commissioner Tippin reported that he will attend the <br />Legislative Conference in Tallahassee. In addition to the Board's <br />list of items presented at the Legislative Delegation, he will take <br />the information regarding unemployment compensation discussed <br />earlier. <br />PUBLIC"LAND RESEARCH <br />Commissioner Adams noted that at various times comments are <br />made about the amount of publicly -owned land. She requested <br />consensus of the Board to direct staff to compile a list of lands <br />in Indian River County under public ownership, including federal, <br />state, county, and other entities. <br />Administrator Chandler stated - that staff has all the basic <br />data on lands owned by the County, some of which is computerized <br />and some is on maps, and it is a matter of compiling that data. <br />60 <br />
