Tuesday, January 4, 1994 <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, <br />Florida, met in Regular Session at the County Commission Chambers, <br />1840 25th Street, Vero Beach, Florida, on Tuesday, January 4, 1994, <br />at 9:00 a.m. Present were Richard N. Bird, Chairman; John W. <br />Tippin, Vice Chairman; Fran B. Adams; Carolyn K. Eggert; and <br />Richard N. Bird. Also present were James E. Chandler, County <br />Administrator; Charles P. Vitunac, County Attorney; and Diane <br />Albin, Deputy Clerk. <br />The Chairman called the meeting to order, and Administrator <br />Chandler led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br />CHAIRMAN"S COMMENTS - RICHARD N. BIRD <br />Chairman Bird announced that the Board historically has <br />elected a Chairman and Vice Chairman at the first meeting of each <br />year. He stated that in the 13 years he has served as a <br />Commissioner, the past year probably has been the most enjoyable. <br />He related that he received excellent cooperation from the other <br />Commissioners and from staff, which made hits job much easier. <br />Chairman Bird predicted that history will reflect that 1993 was a <br />good year for the County, during which many positive things <br />happened. He felt that the County is in excellent hands with the <br />present Commission, and he thanked the other Commissioners for <br />giving him the opportunity to serve as Chairman during 1993. <br />ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN AND VICE CHAIRMAN FOR 1994 <br />Chairman Bird turned the meeting over to Attorney Vitunac for <br />election of a new Chairman. <br />Attorney Vitunac opened the floor for nominations for Chairman <br />for 1994. <br />Commissioner Eggert nominated Commissioner John W.
