opportunity to purchase and renovate condemned houses rather than <br />demolish them. He gave examples of houses in the area that were <br />purchased and rehabilitated. <br />Director Rymer advised the Board that Mr. Williams' property <br />is in the first phase of condemnation. A letter was sent notifying <br />him that he had 60 days to start making necessary repairs. At the <br />end of the 60 days, staff will present this matter to the Board for <br />further action. Mr. Williams will have an opportunity to ask the <br />Board for an extension at that time. <br />Commissioner Adams asked Director Rymer to clarify whether Mr. <br />Williams has 60 days to begin restoration, or whether the repairs <br />must be completed within that time frame. <br />Director Rymer responded that Mr. Williams has 60 days to <br />submit his plans, get a permit, and get started. <br />Commissioner Macht felt that the Board should give staff a <br />chance to follow their usual procedure. <br />Mr. Williams emphasized that he was not here to cause any <br />problems. He just wanted to let the Board know that he intends to <br />renovate the houses as soon as he has the money. <br />Chairman Tippin stated that no action was required by the <br />Board at this time. He suggested that Mr. Williams might want to <br />make as many of the needed repairs as possible before the end of <br />the 60 -day limit. <br />PUBLIC OFFICIALS CONFERENCE REMINDER <br />Chairman Tippin reminded the Board that Emergency Services <br />Director Doug Wright has scheduled a public officials conference <br />for Friday, February 11, 1994 at 10:00 a.m. <br />Commissioner Eggert announced that the Emergency Services <br />Advisory Committee will be meeting at 9:00 a.m. the same day. The <br />first draft of the amended emergency services plan will be <br />distributed at that meeting. She suggested that the Commissioners <br />might want to attend that meeting, then after a short break the <br />10:00 a.m. meeting will be held.
