Thompson, P.E. <br />Capital Projects Manager <br />SUBJECT: FIND Grant Application for Round Island Park, Phase II <br />and Environmental Learning Center, Phase III <br />DATE: April 12, 1994 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />The deadline for submittal of grant applications to the Florida Inland <br />Navigation District (FIND) for the FY 1994-95 Waterways Assistance Program <br />is May 2, 1994. All grant applications must include an official <br />resolution accepting the terms and conditions of the Waterways Assistance <br />Program. <br />Attached are FIND grant applications for Round Island Park, Phase II and <br />Environmental Learning Center, Phase III. <br />Round Island Park, Phase II improvements include construction of a wood <br />walkover to No -Name Island, waterfront boardwalk on the west side of the <br />Island, nature trails, an observation tower and educational signage on the <br />Island. The estimated cost of these improvements is $88,800. The County <br />is requesting that FIND fund 90% of the project cost. Matching funds for <br />this project would have to be provided by the County. <br />Environmental Learning Center, Phase III improvements consist of an <br />elevated boardwalk connecting existing Entry Pavilion and Wet Lab Pavilion <br />to proposed Dry Lab Classroom Pavilion and existing surface trails. The <br />estimated cost of these improvements is $273,510. The County is <br />requesting that FIND fund 27% of the project cost. Matching funds for <br />this project will come from private donations, and funds received from St. <br />John's River Water Management District, Florida Department of Agriculture, <br />Indian River County, Indian River County School District, local businesses <br />and private foundations. <br />I 1 •," 1 •: <br />Staff recommends that moti6ns-be made to: <br />1.
