Authorization to Purchase Replacement of Detroit Engine for <br />Fire Engine (Vehicle #505) <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 4/14/94: <br />TO: Emergency Services District Board of Commissioners <br />THROUGH: Jim Chandler, Cpunty Administrator <br />FROM: Doug Wright DrIrector <br />Emergency Services <br />DATE: April 14, 1994 <br />SUBJECT: Authorization to Purchase Replacement Detroit Engine <br />for Fire Engine (Vehicle #505) <br />It is respectfully requested that the information contained herein be <br />given formal consideration by the Emergency Services District Board <br />of Commissioners at the next regular scheduled meeting. <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />The fire engine assigned to the Fellsmere Volunteer Fire Department <br />(vehicle 4505 ) is a 1983 Ford C-800 which is powered by a Detroit <br />diesel 8.2 liter turbo charged V-8 engine. In the past year this <br />vehicle has been using an excessive amount of oil in its daily <br />operations. On average, when responding to an emergency call, this <br />vehicle will burn approximately one (1) gallon of-.dil,� and the <br />consumption rate appears to be increasing. In 1991 - the'fi�ee pump on <br />this engine was rebuilt and in 1992, the water tank was replaced. <br />The apparatus is considered to be in good working order except for <br />the engine using an excessive amount of oil. <br />In the current fiscal year budget, a replacement engine.was approved <br />for this vehicle.
