y 1 51 t7n <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated June 17, 1994. <br />TO: Board of Co my ommissioners <br />THROUGH: Doug Wrightl Director <br />Department of Emergency Services <br />FROM: John King, Emergency Management Coordinator <br />Division of Emergency Management <br />DATE: June -171 1994 <br />SUBJECT: FEDERAL FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT GRANT <br />It is respectfully requested that the information contained herein <br />be given formal consideration by the Board of County Commissioners <br />at the next scheduled meeting. <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS: <br />The Department of Emergency Services, .Division of Emergency <br />Management, has received notice that we have been selected to <br />receive ,$500 in grant funds from the federal Facilities and <br />Equipment Program. The funds are to reimburse costs associated with <br />the establishment and enhancement of Radio Amateur Civil Emergency <br />Services (RACES) equipment in support of Emergency Management <br />functions. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS: <br />The Division of Emergency Management received approval in the <br />FY -93/94 budget to purchase emergency radios to coordinate County <br />efforts with Special Needs Shelters and public shelters operated by <br />private non-profit emergency providers. Since this communications <br />project is supported, in part, by local RACES volunteers, it <br />qualifies for reimbursement under the proposed grant. <br />ION: <br />Staff recommends the Board of County Commissioners approve the <br />grant funds for reimbursement of County expenditures in the amount <br />of $500 and authorize the Chairman to execute the attached <br />agreements. <br />Staff also recommends approval of the necessary budget amendment to <br />create a separate fund account for audit purposes as relates to <br />these monies. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Macht, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Eggert, the Board unanimously <br />approved the use of grant funds for <br />reimbursement of County expenditures on <br />(RACES) equipment in the amount of $500 and <br />authorized the execution of Ae Agreement with <br />the Florida Department of Community Affairs. <br />PARTIALLY EXECUTED COPY OF GRANT AGREEMENT ON <br />FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />JUN 28 1994 17 BOOK 92 PAGt 713' <br />L <br />
