FF__ -7 <br />J U L 5 1994 ROOF 92 P F, 76 <br />Chairman Tippin asked if we can refuse to accept 27th Avenue <br />from the State, and Public Works Director Jim Davis explained that <br />legislation adopted in 1978 provides for the transfer of collector <br />roads to the counties. He didn't understand why it has taken the <br />State so long to get around to transferring 27th Avenue. <br />Commissioner Bird felt we should go with Option No. 2 for <br />safety and security reasons. <br />Director Davis agreed there are a tremendous number of <br />positive reasons to light the corridor. Some people may object to <br />the high intensity of these lights and the height of them but it <br />would be good to have them for the safety of the roadway. <br />COMMISSIONER ADAMS WITHDREW HER SECOND TO COMMISSIONER <br />MACHT'S MOTION AND THE MOTION DIED FOR LACK OF A SECOND. <br />Commissioner Macht preferred just lighting the intersections <br />in the residential areas. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Adams, the Board approved Option 2 by a <br />4-1 vote (Chairman Tippin dissenting) and adopted <br />Resolution 94-88 for State -funded lighting on 27th <br />Avenue from SR -60. <br />34 <br />
