ON Motion by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Adams, the Board <br />unanimously approved the recommendations <br />of staff to re -submit the "Sebastian <br />Scrub" FCT application for this year's FCT <br />cycle for 50% cost -share, expanding the <br />application to include the 180 single- <br />family lots in Sebastian Highlands. <br />Courthouse Project, Change Order No. 14, Clerk's Office <br />The Board reviewed Memorandum of August 29, 1994: <br />DATE: AUGUST 29, 1994 <br />TO: HONORABLE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />THRU: JAMES E. CHANDLER <br />COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR <br />FROM: H. -T. "SONNY" DEAN, DIRECTO <br />DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES <br />SUBJECT: INDIAN RIVER COUNTY COURTHOUSE PROJECT <br />CHANGE -ORDER NUMBER 14 - CLERKIS OFFICE <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Clerk of the Court, Jeff Barton <br />portion of the new courthouse <br />administrative office area. <br />has made a request to modify a <br />that is designated as his <br />Mr. Barton has asked to delete the carpet that is scheduled for <br />that area so he can paint the floors and install his own carpet <br />and/or rugs. A deduct of $400.00 has been offered by the <br />contractor for deletion of carpet installation. The County has <br />paid $2,242.00 for the carpet and installation cost. The material <br />not used could be stored with our construction inventory and used <br />sometime in the future, since all the carpet in that facility ia <br />the same color. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />Staff is requesting Board action on the subject Change Order. The <br />result of this action will be' immediately transmitted to the <br />contractor in an effort to save on cost and contract time should <br />changes be required. <br />Commissioner Eggert inquired as to how much additional carpet <br />had been purchased, and General Services Director Sonny Dean <br />advised that it was approximately 10%. He would check to find out <br />the difference in maintenance costs. <br />Commissioner Macht believed that the Board needs to maintain <br />a standard of decor because if we allow everyone to go their own <br />way, it will be a cost nightmare in the future. <br />Commissioner Eggert reminded the Board that the Clerk was <br />given permission some years ago to purchase his own furnishings. <br />September 13, 1994 13 BOOK PAGE 466 <br />
