------------ <br />1 <br />SECTION 01541 <br />PROTECTION OF THE WORK AND PROPERTY i< <br />1.6 DAMAGE TO EXISTING STRUCTURES AND UTILITIES r <br />A. The CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for and make good all damage to <br />pavement beyond the limits of this Contract, buildings,. telephone or other <br />cables, water pipes, sanitary pipes, or other structures which may be <br />encountered, whether or not shown on the Drawings. <br />B. Information shown on the Drawings as to the location of existing utilities has <br />been prepared from the most reliable data available to the Engineer. This <br />information is not guaranteed, however, and it shall be this CONTRACTOR's <br />responsibility to determine the location, character and depth of any existing <br />utilities. He shall assist the utility companies, by every means possible to <br />determine said locations. Extreme caution shall be exercised to eliminate any <br />possibility of any damage to utilities resulting,from his activities. <br />1.7 ADJUSTMENTS OF UTILITY CASTINGS COVERS AND BOXES <br />A. All existing utility castings, including valve boxes, junction boxes, manholes, pull <br />boxes, inlets and similar structures in the areas of construction that are to <br />remain in service shall be adjusted by the CONTRACTOR to bring them flush <br />with the surface of the finished work. <br />B. The CONTRACTOR shall coordinate the utilities to ensure proper construction <br />sequencing.
