r <br />;i 4.._. <br />■ Scaffolding feet must be secured from movement through the use.of adequate anchoring plates, <br />blocks or other means. If there are wheels on scaffolding feet, they must be prevented from <br />rolling through the use of wheel locks, <br />■ All scaffolding support pins must be in place, of the correct type and locked in place by means of <br />their designed swivel lock. <br />■ Ascending scaffolding in excess of 6' in height must be done with the use of a full body harness, <br />positioning lanyard and shock absorbing lanyard meant to safely decelerate your fall. <br />■ You must be tied off once you have reached your work height to an anchorage point capable of <br />supporting 5,000 lbs. <br />■ Inspect scaffolding for missing members. Each scaffolding level must have diagonals, at least <br />four upright posts at each corner (unless an internal stairway is included), mid -rails and toe— <br />boards 6" high at the standing platform level. <br />■ All scaffolding planks must be in good repair, made of oak and both ends secured firmly in place <br />prior to employee use. <br />■ Tools or materials must not be stacked on scaffolding so as to shift the balance of the structure <br />from its center. <br />■ Scaffolding must not be used as a support for building structural materials during construction, <br />as scaffolding supports are only designed for distribution of human weight and hand tools. <br />Man baskets — engineered and job specific man baskets are designed for use by single or multiple <br />employees at one time. Below are some of the basic rules for use of man baskets: <br />■ Man baskets must be designed by a registered professional engineer and have maximum loaded <br />weight rating and maximum human occupancy clearly labeled. <br />■ All employees in man baskets must be tied off to an anchor point within the basket. <br />■ Employees who leave the basket must be tied off to an anchor point above head level capable of <br />supporting 5,000 lbs. <br />■ Employees in man baskets attached to man lift trucks shall not drive the entire apparatus while <br />suspended more than 6' above ground except for small repositioning moves. <br />■ Extended man lift booms must be capable of withstanding a lateral force of at least 100 lbs. <br />■ All man lifts used must be capable of being lowered to the ground safely if power is lost to the <br />boom/ work platform. <br />
