Muck is basically organic material <br />that washes off the land. It's the finest particles that settle into lowest area of the river <br />bed." <br />If it's not stopped at. its source, Gilmore said, muck will simply return to the dredged - <br />out channel. <br />"That deep trench (the dredging) left needs to be filled in with sand or it will refill <br />with muck that will just have to be dredged out again," he said."It's a perpetual <br />problem." <br />Copyright 2014 Scripps Media, Inc.
