Gray, Jr. <br />Natural Resources Manager <br />SUBJECT: Work Order No. 2018007-1, Coastal Technology Corporation <br />Sector 7 Beach and Dune Renourishment — Design and Permitting <br />DATE: February 8, 2018 <br />L1��I:1I�>i[� _ ► �i • <br />On January 9, 2018, the Board approved a contract with Coastal Technology Corporation (Coastal <br />Tech) for professional coastal engineering and biological support services related to the <br />management and renourishment of the Sector 7 (Porpoise Point) beach project area. <br />The Sector 7 project area is a 2.2 mile section of shoreline that extends from Seagrove south to <br />the Moorings in the southern portion of the County. The Sector 7 project area sustained damage <br />from Hurricane Matthew (2016) and Hurricane Irma (2017) and is in need of a large scale beach <br />and dune nourishment project to maintain protection to upland properties and infrastructure. <br />The County has received a fully signed Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Project <br />Worksheet (No. IRGAG05 — Hurricane Matthew) and is currently developing a Project Worksheet <br />with FEMA in order to replace Hurricane Irma associated storm losses within the project area. <br />The proposed Work Order No. 2018007-1 includes nine (9) separate tasks pertaining to the <br />design and permitting of the Sector 7 Beach and Dune Renourishment Project. <br />Work Order No. 2018007-1 is for a lump sum amount of $256,435. <br />Work orders related to preconstruction monitoring, bidding, and construction phase services will <br />be addressed through subsequent work orders. <br />FUNDING <br />Local funding of Beach Restoration includes a portion of Local Option Tourist Tax Revenue as well <br />as allocation of the One Cent Sales Tax.
