PROCLAMATION <br />RECOGNIZING THE MONTH OF APRIL, 2018, AS <br />GUARDIAN AD LITEM MONTH <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County prides itself on giving back to the community, contributing <br />to the quality of life among our citizens; and, <br />WHEREAS, April has been designated National Child Abuse Prevention Month; and <br />WHEREAS, April 15 through April 21, 2018, has been designated as National Volunteer <br />Appreciation Week; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Guardian Ad Litem Program is a partnership of volunteers from our county <br />and staff who advocate for the best interest of abused, abandoned, and neglected children <br />within our community; and, <br />WHEREAS, there are at least 190 children in Indian River County involved in the court <br />system through no fault of their own; and <br />WHEREAS, there are 84 citizens of Indian River County advocating for their community's <br />children. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS, INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA that the Board hereby recognizes the <br />month of April, 2018 as Guardian Ad Litem Month in Indian River County, and urges all <br />residents to give of their time to make a difference in the lives of our most vulnerable children <br />by volunteering with the Guardian Ad Litem Program. <br />Adopted this 3rd day of April, 2018.
