Proclamation <br />Town of Orchid <br />W&rras, the Town of Orchid, with its location on the barrier island in Indian River <br />County, is susceptible to the threat of coastal damage and dune erosion by <br />hurricanes and Nor'easter storms; and <br />the Town of Orchid has always had in Indian River County an effective <br />ally in the recovery of significant coastal erosion following turbulent <br />storm seasons; and <br />`w%teIM.l the Town of Orchid's fragile dune system has once again been successfully <br />restored following major coastal events it 2017 and 2018, because of the <br />Interlocal Agreement entered into with Indian River County during the <br />cooperative recovery efforts following Hurricane Matthew in 2o16; and <br />ryl/heteoS, the Town of Orchid has, following previous storm events and during this <br />latest beach renourishment project, been able to rely on theextensive. <br />expertise and willingness to help of Indian River County's knowledgeable <br />professionals in the fields of coastal engineering, environmental <br />protection, the law, parks and recreation and life preservation; <br />Now t&ref % the Town Council wishes to sincerely express its gratitude on behalf of the <br />Town of Orchid to Indian River County, including specifically its <br />esteemed Board of Commissioners, County Administrator Jason Brown, <br />Coastal Engineer James Gray, Environmental Specialist Kendra Cope, <br />Superintendent of Parks David Fleetwood, Lifeguard Captain John <br />Frazier, and County Attorney Dylan Reingold for the collaborative spirit <br />and hands-on support of Town of Orchid's ongoing coastal management <br />and dune preservation efforts, including particularly the Town's most <br />recent emergency dune restoration project. <br />that the Town Council of the Town of Orchid, in a public meeting this 4m <br />day of April in the year 2o18, does hereby express its sincerest gratitude <br />to Indian River County,. and be it further resolved that this proclamation <br />be presented to the Indian River County Board of Commissioners at an <br />upcoming, public meeting of that body. <br />Wayor <br />Harold Ofstie <br />attest: atm Clerk <br />Cherry Stowe <br />4-10-18 <br />5N. <br />
