Exhibit 1— Scope of Work <br />The Contractor shall provide all labor, materials and equipment to provide mowing and grounds maintenance <br />services with specifications, terms and conditions contained within this document. <br />The successful bidder, as Contractor, shall furnish all manpower, trucks, tractors, mowers, edgers, hand trimmers, <br />gas, oil, safety equipment, and any other equipment necessary for vegetation mowing, weeding, trimming, debris <br />pick-up and any other function to properly maintain the areas of responsibility. <br />It shall be the sole responsibility of the bidder to visit and inspect all locations prior to submission of bid. No <br />variation in price or condition shall be permitted based on claim of ignorance. Submission of a bid is evidence that <br />the bidder has familiarized themselves with the nature and extent of work and any conditions that may, in any <br />manner effect the work to be done and the labor, materials and equipment required. <br />It is the intention of the County to obtain the services as specified herein from a Contractor that will give prompt <br />and convenient service. The awarded Contractor must be capable to perform as required under the responsibilities <br />as listed. Any failure of a successful bidder to comply with these conditions may be cause for termination of the <br />contract immediately upon notice by the County. The County reserves the right to obtain these services from other <br />sources, if necessary, should a successful bidder be unable to perform on a timely basis. <br />Prior to awarding this contract, the County may require a test period to determine if the Contractor can perform in <br />accordance with the requirements of the contract and to the County's satisfaction. Such test period may extend up <br />to 90 days and be conducted under all terms, conditions and specifications contained in this document. A <br />performance evaluation at the end of the test period will be the basis for the County's decision to continue with the <br />Contractor or select another. <br />Responsibilities <br />The contractor shall clear areas of all debris prior to servicing. All clippings, trimmings, branches etc., from each <br />service site shall be removed upon completion of that day's service. Disposal of all debris shall be the responsibility <br />of the Contractor. Debris shall not be deposited into County or privately owned trash receptacles or dumpsters <br />located on site. <br />The Contractor shall edge along walks, curbs, hedges and beds as required to maintain a neat appearance with <br />every service to prevent the growth of plant material from encroaching onto hardened surfaces and plant beds. <br />Vertical edges must be at a minimum of 1" to prevent any encroachment. String trimmer edging is not acceptable. <br />A blade edger must be used. <br />The Contractor shall trim around all obstructions, including but not limited to, signs, posts, fences, poles, trees, <br />slabs, walls, etc. with each service. <br />The Contractor shall maintain a ring around sprinkler heads as required to allow for proper operation of the <br />irrigation system with each service. <br />The Contractor shall blow grass trimmings from all hardened surfaces with each service. No grass, weeds, trash, <br />debris, sand, etc. shall be blown into the streets or gutter where it may get into the stormwater system. <br />The discharging of clippings into beds, playgrounds, earthen trails, hardened surfaces, buildings, vehicles, people or <br />any non -appropriate area is prohibited. <br />The Contractor shall mow grass areas at a height of not less than 2-1/2" or more than 4". The Contractor shall not <br />mow or line trim the grass to a height less than 2-1/2" and exposing the soil and causing damage to the turf. Uncut <br />Page 11 <br />
