PROCLAMATION <br />Honoring John William .King Upon the Occasion of His Retirement frons <br />Indian River County Department of Emergency Services <br />WHEREAS, John William King, a lifelong resident of Indian River County, began his <br />distinguished career in the fire service as a local volunteer firefighter and upon being <br />hired by Fire Rescue in 1976 embarked upon a 42- year career dedicated to the citizens <br />of his hometown; and <br />WHEREAS, with diligence and honor, over the next 4 decades he worked his way <br />through the ranks; Firefighter, Engineer, Lieutenant, Training Officer, Deputy <br />Director of Emergency Services, County Fire Chief, and finally, from 2001 until today, <br />the dual leadership role as Director of Emergency Services and the Chief of Fire <br />Rescue; and, <br />WHEREAS, John William King was a principal author of the consolidation of the Fire <br />Division and Emergency Medical Services Division into a county wide Fire Rescue <br />Department wherein as Department Director he performed highly responsible <br />administrative and management work in directing, coordinating, planning, and <br />organizing a total Emergency Services program including Fire Suppression and <br />Prevention, Emergency Medical Services, Radiological Preparedness, Emergency <br />Management, 911 Coordinator and Animal Control, on a countywide basis; and, <br />WHEREAS, after almost half a century of service, exceptional loyalty, extreme <br />dedication, and ever the gentleman, Chief King will be retiring on April 30, 2018. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Board gives <br />thanks to Chief King for his unwavering service, commitment and dedication to the <br />people of our community and for choosing to spend a lifetime contributing to the <br />history of our County while leaving behind examples of integrity, determination, <br />commitment, brotherhood and pride. <br />BE IT FURTHER PROCLAIMED that the Board of County Commissioners <br />and staff extend their sincerest wishes for success in all his future endeavors. <br />Adopted this 17th Day of April 2018. <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />Peter D.
