Brown, County Administrator
Michael Smykowski, Director, Office of Management and Budget
FROM: Jennifer Hyde, Purchasing Manager
SUBJECT: Designation of Excess Equipment as Surplus and Authorization to Sell
Honda ATV via Online Auction
BACKGROUND:
The equipment on the attached list has been determined excess to the needs of Indian River
County and requires disposal in accordance with Florida Statutes and Finance Policies.
Asset 28939/Fleet 1105 is a Honda ATV allocated to Coastal Engineering. This vehicle was
damaged by a rogue wave and has been declared a total loss. A replacement ATV has been
purchased. Staff requests the Board's authorization to dispose of this asset via online auction,
rather than hold it for a future live auction (not currently anticipated to occur before the fall of
2018) to minimize the impact of the saltwater damage on the vehicle's value to a potential
buyer.
As previously authorized by the Board, the items will either be sold by online auction or at a
future live auction. The funds received from the sale of these items will be returned to the
appropriate accounts.
FUNDING:
There is no cost to the County associated with this request.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the Board declare the items on the Excess Equipment List for 050118 Agenda
as surplus, and authorize their sale and/or disposal, as indicated, to include the sale of Asset
28939 by online auction.
ATTACHMENT:
Excess Equipment List for 050118 Agenda
200
