Award of Bid No. 2018045, <br />Gifford Area Stormwater Project IRC -1502 <br />For May 1, 2018 BCC Meeting <br />During the review of bids, a significant variance of a unit price for Item 425-15-21 (Inlets, Dt Bot, Type C, <br /><101 between the bid form of Timothy Rose Contracting (TRC) and the other bidders was identified. On <br />behalf of the Engineering Division, the Purchasing Manager requested clarification on the line item <br />pricing from TRC and asked the firm to either affirm their submitted line item price was correct, or <br />indicate that an error was made. TRC responded that an error had been made (a decimal placement <br />error led to a very low item price) and requested to withdraw its bid. <br />Johnson -Davis, Inc. is considered to be the lowest, responsive, responsible bidder for the project with a <br />bid totaling $211,365.00. Johnson -Davis, Inc. has successfully completed numerous drainage <br />improvement construction projects within the State of Florida for local municipalities and the Florida <br />Department of Transportation. The Johnson -Davis, Inc. bid was above the Engineer's Estimate of <br />$191,984.40. <br />FUNDING <br />Funding for construction is available from Optional Sales Tax/Stormwater/East Gifford Drainage — <br />Account No. 31524338-066340-15017 and East Gifford Stormwater MSBU/East Gifford Drainage — <br />Account No. 17128041-066340-15017. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends approval of Timothy Rose Contracting Inc.'s request to withdraw its bid. <br />Staff further recommends the project be awarded to Johnson -Davis, Inc. in the amount of $211,365.00 <br />and requests the Board of County Commissioners approve the attached sample agreementand <br />authorize the Chairman to execute said agreement after receipt and approval of the required Public <br />Construction Bond and Certificate of Insurance and the County Attorney has approved agreement as to <br />form and legal sufficiency. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />Sample Agreement <br />AGENDA ITEM FOR MAY 01, 2018 <br />82 <br />C:\Users\legistar\AppData\Local\Temp\BCL Technologies\easyPDF 8\@BCL@940D9BOC\ BCL@940D9BOC.dm <br />
