BOOK U3 FACUL 544 <br />After discussion, the Board unanimously agreed to table this <br />item until the regular meeting of October 25, 1994. <br />RESOLUTION SUPPORTING PASSENGER SERVICE ON FEC <br />CORRIDOR <br />The Board reviewed a Memorandum of October 12, 1994: <br />TO: Board of County Commissioners October 12, 1994 <br />FROM: John W. Tippin, Chairman <br />SUBJECT: Supporting Resolution Regarding Passenger Service <br />on FEC Corridor <br />The Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council has requested that, <br />we adopt a resolution supporting the initiation of passenger <br />service along the Florida East Coast Railway corridor. <br />Attached is a resolution for your consideration. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Macht, the Board unanimously adopted <br />Resolution 94-130 supporting the concept of Amtrak <br />service from Jacksonville to Miami along the Florida <br />East Coast Railway Corridor. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 94- 130 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br />FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE CONCEPT OF <br />AMTRAK SERVICE FROM JACKSONVILLE TO MIAMI <br />ALONG THE FLORIDA EAST COAST RAILWAY <br />CORRIDOR. <br />WHEREAS, AMTRAK presently does not provide service to <br />heavily populated coastal commumities between Jacksonville and <br />Miami; and <br />WHEREAS, the existing Florida East Coast freight rail lines <br />between Jacksonville and West Palm Beach will facilitate this <br />service contingent upon improvements to accomodate passenger <br />train service; and <br />OCTOBER 18, 1994 34 <br />
