RESOLUTION NO. 2018 - 062 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN <br />RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT <br />DIRECTOR, OR IN HIS ABSENCE, A DESIGNEE OF THE COMMUNITY <br />DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR TO MAKE APPLICATION TO THE FLORIDA <br />DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY (DEO) FOR A HOUSING <br />REHABILITATION SMALL CITIES COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK <br />GRANT (CDBG) FOR FEDERAL FISCAL YEAR (FFY) 2017 AND AUTHORIZE THE <br />USE OF LOCAL STATE HOUSING INITIATIVES PARTNERSHIP (SHIP) FUNDS AS <br />CDBG LEVERAGE, PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE, AND FOR OTHER <br />RELATED PURPOSES. <br />WHEREAS, there are several housing units within Indian River County that are <br />deteriorated and are in need of being rehabilitated. <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners <br />to submit an application to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity for a Small <br />Cities Community Development Block Grant in the Housing Rehabilitation Category to <br />rehabilitate deteriorated housing within the unincorporated areas of the County and benefit <br />persons of low and moderate income. <br />WHEREAS, the proposed Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application is <br />consistent with the Indian River County Comprehensive Plan; <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY; that <br />SECTION 1. The CDBG program is declared to be a workable program for <br />providing rehabilitation to deteriorated housing to benefit low to moderate income <br />households within the unincorporated areas of Indian River County as indicated in the <br />proposed FFY 2017 CDBG application. <br />SECTION 2. The Board of County Commissioners hereby authorizes the <br />Chairman, or the Community Development Director in the Chairman's absence, to execute <br />1 <br />
