MEMORANDUM.OF UNDERSTANDING <br />TOWN OF INDIAN RIVER SHORES <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL DISTRICT <br />THIS MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING ("MOU"), entered into this 14 day <br />Of Aucjust 2018, by and between the Town of Indian River Shores (hereinafter referred to <br />as the TO)AN) and Indian River County, Solid Waste Disposal District (hereinafter referred to as <br />the SWDD). <br />WHEREAS, on August 14, 2018, the TOWN and SWDD entered into an Interlocal <br />Agreement (the "Agreement"); and <br />WHEREAS, the TOWN has entered into a contract with the TOWN's own independent <br />and exclusive solid waste and recycling franchise collector for service within the Town limits; and <br />WHEREAS, the TOWN and SWDD agree that there are _1,643 single family residential <br />units and 1,691 multi -family residential units in the TOWN as of January 2018. <br />WHEREAS, the SWDD entered into a service contract- for the collection of recyclables <br />from all residential units in Indian River County to commence on October 1, 2015 for the base <br />term of seven (7) years expiring on September, 30, 2022 with the option for renewal of three (3) <br />years, if approved, expiring on September 30, 2025; and <br />WHEREAS, the TOWN has a mix of neighborhoods governed by homeowners' <br />associations that may or may not allow for curbside collection, but TOWN has agreed to convert <br />all residential units to a cart -based recycling collection system beginning November, 2018; and <br />WHEREAS, the TOWN intends to actively participate in the next re -bid for the county- <br />wide curbside recycling contract. . <br />NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual undertakings herein and other good <br />and valuable consideration, the receipt and adequacy of which is hereby acknowledged, the parties <br />agree, as follows: <br />L SWDD Responsibilities. <br />a. The SWDD shall provide 3,000 standard 64 -gallon blue recycling carts to the <br />TOWN's franchisee at the inception of the single stream recycling program within <br />the TOWN. <br />b. The SWDD shall pay a rate of $2.03 per month per single family residential units <br />and pay a rate of $1.53 per month per multi -family residential units effective upon <br />execution of this MOU. <br />Page 1 of 4 <br />
