October 3, 1994 <br />BOOT( b3 PA.GL 656 <br />The Legislative Delegation of Indian River Cotunty will hold its annual <br />meeting and public hearing on December 7, 1994, beginning at 8:30 a.my in <br />Indian River County Administration Building - Commission Chambers, 1840 <br />251h Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960. <br />Tlie purpose of lice delegation ineeting, prior to lite co venting of the <br />regular session of lite Florida Legislature, is to consider the introduction of <br />Special Acts relating to Indian River Coutly, and to allow local residents an . . <br />opportunity to voice their opinions on various issues to the delegation. <br />Anyone wishbtg to have a Special Act for Indian River County <br />introduced should have the Act drafted and delivered to my office at 1053 <br />20th Place - City Halo before November 10, 1994. A statement by an <br />attorney, that lite purpose of the Act cannot be accomplished by a local <br />ordinance or rule, is required with each proposed Special Act, along with two <br />copies of proof of publication. <br />If you have any questions regarding the meeting, or wish to be on the <br />agenda to address the delegation, please contact my Legislative Assistant <br />Dawn Smith or my Legislative Secretary Carol Gerow in nny District office, <br />phone number 778-5077. <br />Chairman Tippin announced that the Treasure Coast Council of <br />Governments endorsed four items in the Legislative Delegation <br />package: Item 1, legislative review of administrative rule-making; <br />Item 2, some type of homestead exemption reform; Item 3, master <br />plan protection for public infrastructure investment; and Item 4, <br />partial year ad valorem assessment. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Macht, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Eggert, the Board unanimously endorsed <br />the four items in the legislative package as listed <br />above. <br />Commissioner Eggert requested the addition of another item to <br />the list regarding a State self-insurance fund to provide insurance <br />to. non -prof it corporations and civic agencies who provide services <br />-to transportation disadvantaged. She felt we could do a lot more <br />with our school buses, for example, during the day and on weekends <br />if we could get proper insurance for them. Insurance coverage is <br />available for the small van -type vehicles but it --would be helpful - <br />to be able to get coverage on the larger buses. <br />October 25, 1994 <br />100 <br />
