Board of Commissioners SWDD Meeting Minutes - Draft July 3, 2018 <br />15. SPECIAL DISTRICTS AND BOARDS <br />B. Solid Waste Disposal District <br />The Board reconvened as the Board of Commissioners of the Solid Waste <br />Disposal District. Those minutes will be approved at an upcoming Solid Waste <br />Disposal District meeting - <br />18 -1921 Approval of Minutes May 8, 2018 <br />15.13.1. <br />Recommended Action: Approve <br />Attachments: 05082018SW DD <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Flescher, seconded by Commissioner <br />Adams, to approve the Solid Waste Disposal District Meeting Minutes of May 8, <br />2018. The motion carried by the following vote: <br />Aye:_ 5 - Chairman O'Bryan, Vice Chairman Solari, Commissioner Adams, Commissioner <br />Flescher, and Commissioner Zorc <br />15.13.2: 18-2001 Expansion of the School District of Indian River County Recycling <br />Program <br />Recommended Action: Staff recommends that the Solid Waste Disposal District (SWDD) Board <br />consider and authorize the following: 1. Conceptually approve to provide 50% <br />funding, which is estimated, at $13,800, to cover half of the one-time costs for <br />containers and materials for the remaining 16 public schools based on support <br />from Dr. Mark Rendell, School District of Indian River County (SDIRC) <br />Superintendent, for the expansion of the program; 2. Direct staff to work with <br />Dr. Rendell to request a 50% funding match from SDIRC. Tentatively, this <br />approval will be considered at the next SDIRC meeting on July 26, 2018;: and, <br />3. Upon agreement by SDIRC, direct staff to work with the County Attorney's <br />office to prepare a cost sharing agreement to be approved first by SDIRC, and <br />then by the SWDD Board at a future meeting as early as August 14, 2018. <br />Attachments: Staff Report <br />Estimate of Recycling Materials for the remaining 16 Public Schools <br />Stephanie Fonvielle, Recycling Education.and Marketing Coordinator, provided <br />an update on the Recycling Pilot Program that was initiated in January 2018 at <br />Storm Grove Middle School, Vero Beach High School's Freshman Learning . <br />Center, Rosewood Magnet Elementary School, and Pelican Island Elementary <br />Indian River County_Flodda Page 1 <br />
