Page 6 of 23 <br /> • <br /> Counties acknowledge that the effect of this section will be that <br /> any of the four (4) Board of County Commissioners may reduce the <br /> total budget without the consent of the other counties and that <br /> the lowest approved total budget shall be deemed to be the total <br /> budget approved by the Counties. <br /> SECTION 4, DIVISION OF RENTAL AND OPERATING EXPENSE. <br /> (a) For the period from October 1, 1988, through September <br /> 30, 1989, the expenses of operating the Medical Examiner's Office <br /> including rental and purchase of additional equipment as set out <br /> herein shall be divided among and borne by the Counties as <br /> follows: <br /> County Share of Expenses <br /> Indian River 25 percent <br /> Martin 28 percent <br /> Okeechobee 6 percent <br /> St. Lucie 41 percent <br /> (b) The division of expenses established in paragraph (a) <br /> of this section is based on a formula in which the ratio of the <br /> number of autopsies performed in each County in 1987 (A) to the <br /> total number of autopsies performed in the four Counties in 1987 <br /> (B) is weighted 50 percent, and the ratio of the number of deaths <br /> in each County in 1987 (C) to the total number of deaths in the <br /> four Counties in 1987 (D) is weighted 50 percent. The formula is <br /> expressed as (A/B x 0.5) + (C/D x 0.5) = respective County's <br /> share of expenses. <br /> (c) For the purpose of this Agreement, the parties agree <br /> upon the following 1987 autopsy and death figures: <br /> 1987 1987 <br /> County Autopsies Deaths <br /> Indian River 87 962 <br /> Martin 98 1,072 <br /> Okeechobee 43 225 <br /> St. Lucie 175 1,294 <br /> Total 403 3.553 <br /> (d) RECALCULATION.
