6A- <br />PROCLAMATION <br />A <br />PROCLAMATION <br />DESIGNATING THE WEEK OF JULY 23, 2017, AS <br />TREASURE COAST WATERWAY CLEANUP WEEK <br />IN INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />WHEREAS, on Saturday, July 28, 2018, the Marine Industries Association of the Treasure Coast <br />in conjunction with the Florida Inland Navigation District will conduct the 11TH Annual Treasure Coast <br />Waterway Cleanup; and <br />WHEREAS, this event will attract approximately 950 volunteers who will participate in cleaning <br />up the waterways of Indian River, Martin and St. Lucie Counties; and <br />WHEREAS, twenty designated sites throughout the three counties will serve as registration and <br />disposal sites for the volunteers to work out of; and <br />WHEREAS, numerous waterfront homeowners' associations have been recruited to clean up <br />their own waterfronts; and <br />WHEREAS, in 2017, over 7 tons of trash was' collected from approximately 125 miles of <br />waterways with an expectation of a significantly larger amount to be collected this year with an <br />increased volunteer effort. P <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, that the week of July 23, 2018, through July 29, 2018, be designated as <br />TREASURE COAST WATERWAY CLEANUP WEEK in Indian River County, and all citizens are <br />encouraged to use this occasion to foster appreciation for the Treasure Coast Waterways and assist in <br />the cleanup efforts. <br />Adopted this 17th day of July, 2018.
