<br /> Total BCC Departments$17,750,160, a decrease of$75,406 or(0.4%)
<br /> Administrator Brown reviewed the Board of County Commissioners'
<br /> General Fund Budget, which was 19.4% of the total budget and pointed
<br /> out that the Sheriff's budget made up 55% of the budget, noting that
<br /> each year more is allocated to public safety.
<br /> Administrator Brown responded to the Board's questions, affirming that
<br /> the Departments under the General Fund Expenses for FY 2018/19
<br /> included allexpenses, salaries, health insurance and other benefits. He
<br /> pointed out that the Florida Power and Light Grant was for emergency
<br /> planning for the Nuclear Power Plant in St. Lucie County. He also
<br /> clarified that there were funds set aside for the Indian River Lagoon
<br /> position, but he was still formulating how the County could fund the
<br /> position.
<br /> The Chairman opened the floor for public comments; there were none.
<br /> CONSTITUTIONAL OFFICERS
<br /> Administrator Brown announced the proposed Constitutional Officers'budget as
<br /> follows:
<br /> •Clerk of Circuit Court and Comptroller Jeffrey R. Smith-$1,055,644,an increase of
<br /> $22,830, or 2.2%
<br /> •Tax Collector Carole Jean Jordan-$1,585,104, an increase of$120,000 or 8.2%-not
<br /> due until August 1St
<br /> •Property Appraiser David C.Nolte-$3,111,125,an increase of$130,235 or 4.4%
<br /> • Sheriff Deryl Loar-$49,798,375,an increase of$2,820,075,or 6.0%
<br /> • Sheriff Electric-$800,000, a decrease of$100,000 or(11.1%)
<br /> • Supervisor of Elections Leslie R. Swan-$1,368,525,an increase of$47,753,or 3.6%
<br /> •Value Adjustment Board-$60,000, same as last year
<br /> • The proposed total for Constitutional Officers is $57,778,773, an increase of
<br /> $3,040,893, or 5.6 %
<br /> County Administrator Brown thanked the Constitutional Officers for submitting
<br /> responsible budgets and being fiscally responsible.
