(PUBLIC HEARING) SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL DISTRICT(S.W.D.D.) <br /> 411-217 SANITARY LANDFILL <br /> 411-255 RECYCLING <br /> 18-2042 <br /> Attachments: Solid Waste Disposal District(S.W.D.D.) <br /> PROOF OF PUBLICATION OF ADVERTISEMENT FOR HEARING IS <br /> ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD <br /> The Board of County Commissioners reconvened as the Board of <br /> Commissioners of the Solid Waste Disposal District.The minutes will be <br /> approved at an upcoming Solid Waste Disposal District meeting. <br /> Administrator Brown announced that the Fiscal Year 2018-2019 proposed <br /> budget is $15,587,145, an increase of$541,500; he provided a summary of <br /> the following proposed SWDD rates: <br /> Sanitary Landfill - $14,383,734, and increase of$3,948,208 <br /> Recycling- $7,645,111, an increase of$632,568 <br /> • Residential Equivalent Residential Unit(ERU) - $116.85, an increase of <br /> $7.75 <br /> • Commercial Waste Generation Unit(WGU)- $40.50, an increase of$2.83 <br /> • Readiness-to-use Fee- $24.60, an increase of$3.01 <br /> Administrator Brown mentioned one of the reasons for the increase in the <br /> SWDD budget was the closing of an existing cell and the creation of a new <br /> cell at the landfill for a combined cost of$16 million based on the low bid. <br /> He explained that the County was required to set aside funds to close an <br /> existing cell at the landfill. <br /> The Chairman opened the Public Hearing for public comments. <br /> Bob Johnson, Coral Wind Subdivision, commented on the single trash <br /> collection rates and accepting out-of-county waste. <br /> A discussion followed on curbside recycling. <br /> The Board of Commissioners adjourned the Solid Waste Disposal District <br /> meeting, and reconvened as the Board of County Commissioners of the <br /> Budget Workshop meeting, continuing with the Sheriffs Budget. <br /> Indian River County Florida Page 2 <br />
